Youth Program for Great Britain
The Program is created in 2002 to give young people aged 18 to 30 years the opportunity to work in the United Kingdom of Great Britain up to 12 months. The spheres they could choose from are catering, food manufacturing industry, hospitality industry and more. Most of the jobs available are in factories for processing of fish, meat, mushrooms, chicken, etc.
Requirements
To apply, you have to:
- be between 18 and 30 years old;
- desire to work in one of the listed positions;
- be ready to work hard and serious.
What are working conditions?
You’ll earn an hourly wage which is approximately 5? per hour. You’ll have to work 40 hours per week, which means, that if you work 5 days in a week your day will be limited up to 8 hours. If you must work extra, you’ll be more paid (150 % more for every hour you’ve gained).
How much does it cost to live?
Your weekly house rent will be about 50 £ and you’ll need roughly 20 – 30 £ per week for food. It’s easy to count that if you work 40 hours per week and receive 5£ per hour, at the end of the week you’ll have 200£ and your final money (with food and rent deduction) will be 120£ per week or 480 £ per month. In most cases you’ll have to work overtime and that way you could increase your payment for sure.
What will the employer provide?
The employer will provide you lodgings, which are very near to your work place. This is very important, because it saves time and money for transportation. The dwellings dispose of heating, separate bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, refrigerator and basic electric devices.
Do I need a work permit?
Every Bulgarian legal worker in Great Britain needs a work permit. The work permits for this program are issued for up to 12 months and are ready for a month or two, but there are longer or shorter terms possible.
May I participate several times?
Yes, this is possible, but according to the law orders after your 12-month stay you’ll have to return back in Bulgaria for a 3-month period and then you can apply and find a job again.
Can I be placed together with a friend?
This is possible only in a very limited number of cases, because it depends on the employer’s requirements. Sometimes we are able to place two people together but you must all the time have in mind that this can decrease your chances a lot.
Do I have to pay taxes?
As a legal worker in Great Britain you owe taxes but because of the Agreement for Avoiding of the Double Tax Levy signed between the Bulgarian and the British governments you won’t be obligated to pay taxes for the same amount of money here in Bulgaria. It’s also possible to get some part of your taxes back, but this you’ll have to carry out in Great Britain by yourself.
Do I need insurance?
It’s not necessary to make a preliminary insurance before your departure because it’ll be assured by your employer.
What are the traveling costs and how much pocket money will I need?
The traveling costs vary depending on the chosen Air company as well as the particular dates for departure. Our company works with some of the biggest tour operators and always becomes the most advantageous air tickets.
